We visited Benicàssim, Spain, in July to see friends. I’m not sure if many folks outside of Spain know about Benicàssim? At the hotel we were staying at, we were the only Americans, we think, and close to the only folks who weren’t native Spanish speakers.

There are so many amazing buildings built right up to the water. I don’t know the vintage, and I’m not usually a huge fan of towers right on the water, but I love the design of so many of these, and coming from a place where access to the water is more of a privilege than a right, it was great to see a much more democratic approach to getting folks close to a place where they can relax and play with their families.
